About the customer
Mission Critical System 24x7 operation of Arturo Merino Benítez Airport in Santiago de Chile. Santiago de Chile Airport (IATA: SCL, ICAO: SCEL), also known as Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, serves the city of Santiago and it is the largest and busiest airport in Chile. Santiago Airport is located in Pudahuel, 15 km (9.3 miles) northwest of downtown Santiago.
SCL Airport is a hub for LATAM, Sky Airline and JetSmart. LATAM operates approximately 82% of the airport’s commercial operations and handled more than 24,600,000 passengers in 2019.
SCL, through its Operations area, had to properly manage the parking of the aircraft operating at the Santiago airport, both on the boarding bridges and on the remote ones, and ensure the continuity of the airport's operations (deliver operational continuity), as well as maximizing the commercial benefits of the company through efficient and effective use of parking lots and quantifying the operations carried out according to the business rules of the process.
For the process of assigning Parking lots, they used a system with many limitations and a set of manual procedures that allow them to carry out the operation of the boarding bridges, thus achieving only operational continuity without any type of quality or optimization criteria and without the ability to issue statistics from the system.
With more than 15 millons annual passangers, 300 to 400 daily operations, 33 parking lots (18 bridges and 15 remotes), the systems was operating at full capacity (9 million annual passengers projected in 2003)
